James (Jim) Frederick Larsson

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James (Jim) Frederick Larsson, age 75, of Donalda, Alberta, who left us on February 8, 2025. Born on July 29, 1949, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Jim was a cherished son of Ejnar and Helen Larsson of Buck Lake.

Jim's early years were shaped by the quaint towns of Maywood, Minnhick, and Winfield, where he completed high school. He thrived in the camaraderie of Cadets in Alder Flats and pursued his passion for small engine repair at vocational school in Saskatoon.

An adventurous soul, Jim’s journey led him to Edmonton, where he found love and began a new chapter.  He travelled to the Philippines several times and he dedicated himself to his work at Inland Plastic and later, roaming Western Canada with the P&H building crew. Jim's heart found its truest joy on the farm east of Big Valley, surrounded by the gentle company of sheep, dogs, and the serene presence of rural life. Evenings often found him on the porch, a cat nestled in his lap, coffee in hand savoring the tranquil beauty of the countryside.

In retirement, Jim moved to Heart Haven in Stettler, but his indomitable spirit could not be confined by the constraints of COVID restrictions. He embraced the open road, visiting friends and lending a helping hand to those in need.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, mourned by his daughter, Rosalie; his granddaughter, Sierra; sisters Evelyn Schermers (Albert) and Alice Whitcome; brothers Arthur and Raymond; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Jim was predeceased by parents; nephew Gregory Schermers and grand-nephew Dane Wawzkiewicz.

A Celebration of Life and Remembrance will be held at the Schermers Farm in the spring, where Jim’s essence will be honored and his memory celebrated by all who knew and loved him.
