Darren Keith Rider

September 27, 1966 - February 19, 2025

Darren passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at the age of 58 years. He was doing what he loved most, taking care of his horses in the place he loved, his barn on his grandparent’s homestead where as a child he dreamt of having it for his own someday.

Darren was proud of the life he built with Maureen, through a lot of hard work and a lot of fun too. Family and friends were the focus of his life. He never met a person who didn’t become someone he “knew real well.”

Brett and Kelsey were the most cherished people in his life and he was so incredibly proud of them. He was so happy they found Katherine and Dalen to share their lives with, and that they planned to stay close by on the family farm. He loved nothing better than helping Brett with the cows or in the fields, and riding horses with Kelsey. He leaves many memories and stories, and will be missed beyond measure.

Darren is survived by his wife Maureen (LaRose); son Brett (Katherine Wood) Rider; daughter Kelsey (Dalen Helmig) Rider; parents Gary and Sharon Rider; brother Troy (Jacqui) Rider; sister Lorri (Darrel) Nattestad; chosen brother Randy (Robyn) LaRose; mother-in-law Mary LaRose; sisters-in-law: Shelley (Rick) Michalevich, Julie LaRose and Lisa LaRose; brother-in-law Marc LaRose; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Darren was predeceased by grandparents Percy and Astrid Rider and (W.) “Pete” and Viola Peters; father-in-law Francis LaRose; brother-in-law Kevin LaRose and niece Christine Michalevich.
