Celebration of Life

Obituary of Lorne Norman Weseen
Lorne Norman Weseen
Born January 5, 1937 at Naicam, Saskatchewan
Passed June 21, 2025, age 88 years at Castor, Alberta
Lorne was the second oldest of 6 siblings who have all predeceased him. Born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, he was a farm kid until the family sold the farm and moved into town. His early interests included hockey, ball and most sports.
Later as a young man, Lorne found himself in Saskatoon playing hockey and finding his way. He applied for and got a job as a lab technician in the NWT at a mine on Great Bear Lake at Port Radium. He very soon found his real interest and started an Electrical Apprenticeship at the mine, in 1957, at age 20.
Lorne thrived in this remote and interesting environment and soon met a fascinating and attractive young teacher from New Brunswick, with whom he formed a wonderful bond and the two started a life together filled with the joys and setbacks of a life well lived.
Lorne and Phyllis travelled between work, Saskatchewan and New Brunswick meeting family and formulating their plan. They welcomed Lionel, born in Newcastle in 1959, followed closely by Barry in 1960 in Calgary, where they had moved to work. After living in Drumheller and having experienced a variety of electrical jobs, Lorne was driven to start his own business.
The family moved to Castor where Bill was born in 1964. Lorne and Phyllis began their life in what would prove to be their home community, finding an old house on an acreage close to town, starting his business, and Phyllis teaching.
Lorne and Phyllis were deeply involved in the community through sports, hobbies, school, work, aviation and a fantastic group of friends.
They built a lovely retirement home in town and settled into retirement in1994.
Lorne will be sadly missed by family and friends, and all will miss his bright and cheerful nature.
Lorne is survived by his sons: Lionel (Silvia), Barry (Mary Ann) and Bill (Donna) Weseen; grandchildren: Nelivia, Kimberly, Starsha, Dillon (Katherine Thibault) and Kayl (Tyera Pelletier) Weseen; great grandchildren: Ellis, Zelie and Lennyn Weseen; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He is predeceased by his loving wife Phyllis and his five siblings.
