Hazel May Colp
1937 - 2025
Hazel was born on June 24, 1937 to Herman and Margaret Boomhower, she was their seventh child.
Hazel went to school in Metiskow, Alberta until the age of 12 when she moved to Ontario and went to school for the blind. It was there that she learned brail and learned skills to deal with her sight loss.
Hazel loved her horses, spent many hours riding and training them. Hazel loved animals and there was always a fur baby in her home.
Hazel met Dennis Colp in 1958 and married him in December of 1960. Hazel and Dennis moved to Grimshaw, Alberta and Dale was born in Peace River in October of 1961.
Hazel and Dennis moved back to Czar and Dennis passed away in July of 1967. Hazel lived in Czar for sixty plus years. Upon selling her home she moved to Wainwright and then in 2023 she moved to Willow Creek in Stettler.
Hazel loved camping, singing by the fire with her guitar and listening to country music.
Hazel is survived by her son Dale (Marilee); grandchildren Taggert and Jara (Quinton) and great grandchildren Colby and Tripp.
Hazel is predeceased by her parents Herman and Margaret Boomhower; siblings: Adelia, Sadie, Dan, Stan, Stan, Erla, Dave and Lorna and husband Dennis Colp.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Metiskow Cemetery, Metiskow, Alberta.
