Obituary of Paul David Martin
Paul David Martin
1966 ~ 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul David Martin, on June 22, 2025, at the age of 58. Paul was born to biological mother Jeanette Murphy and Eldridge Callan on August 1, 1966 in St John’s Newfoundland and was chosen and dearly loved by Patrick and Frances Martin at 18 months. Patrick and Frances Martin raised Paul in strong Catholic roots in which Paul stayed anchored to.
Paul had many long-distance running accolades through high school and beat a few records. Paul started his entrepreneur skills by mowing lawns, shoveling snow, and collecting beer bottles at the nearby university in St John’s with his cousins. Paul moved to Ontario and went back to St John’s for a wedding; upon arrival Paul was dubbed Mr. Hollywood for his “high fashion” from Ontario.
Paul moved across Canada over a period of seven years when he reached Kelowna, he was only going to be there briefly and then he met a nine-year-old boy, Vincent and seven-year-old boy Cedric. Vincent and Cedric then introduced Paul to their mother, Karen nee Stephan. The short stay in Kelowna was very extended since Paul got married to Vincent and Cedric’s mom. Shortly after they introduced Luke and Suzanna. Paul and his wife started a successful catering business, which they tirelessly worked at for thirteen years.
Paul had a love for sports, particularly hockey and football. Paul got involved in different areas with these sports, whether by supplying food for the teams, cleaning equipment or being a fan on the sidelines. Paul was not able to be on an institutionalized team when he was younger. Although the neighborhood boys made their own teams as well as homemade hockey equipment such as telephone books as padding!
Paul was predeceased by his grandfather (Poppy) Luke Wescott; grandmother (Nan) Rita Wescott; biological mother Jeanette Murphy; biological father Eldridge Callan; his adoptive parents Patrick Martin and Frances Martin.
Paul will be missed and grieved by son Luke; daughter Suzanna Martin; stepsons Vincent and Cedric Anderson; granddaughter Sierra Anderson; disunited wife Karen; sister Lynne (Martin) and Wayne Comeau; nephew Alex Comeau; Paul’s half-sister’s Cathy Warren (Callan) and Shelley Kindos (Callan) and nieces; many aunts, uncles and cousins in the United States and Canada.
