Samuel Curtis Watts

January 22, 1947 ~ July 12, 2025

Samuel Curtis Watts of Big Valley, Alberta, beloved husband of the late Constance Marie Watts, passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on July 12, 2025 at the age of 78 years.

Curt was born in Stettler, Alberta, on January 22, 1947. From an early age, he had a passion for sports and competition, which stayed with him throughout his life. He grew up playing baseball and continued that love of the game into adulthood, playing fastball during his years in Fort McMurray.

Curt was a skilled snooker player, winning the Senior Alberta Pool Championship in 1998 — a highlight in a lifetime of friendly (and often fierce) competition. He was also a passionate and competitive curler, well-known on the bonspiel circuit for his sharp strategy and sportsmanship. Golf was another lifelong love — one he enjoyed right up until last year.

Curt dedicated his career to the oil and gas industry, where he built not only a reputation for excellence but also lasting friendships. He became something of a legend in the community, known for his knowledge, leadership, and character.

After retiring, Curt returned to the Big Valley area, where he embraced a slower pace of life — spending time with his family, reconnecting with old friends, and enjoying the hobbies he loved.

Curt’s legacy is one of warmth, wit, loyalty, and a competitive spirit that never faded. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
