In Loving Memory

Jody John Elliott

June 1, 1979 ~ October 5, 2025

Jody John Elliott, beloved Partner, Dad, Son, Brother, Uncle passed away at Red Deer Regional Hospital on October 5, 2025 at the age of 46 years. Jody was born on a sunny afternoon at 12:50pm on June 1, 1979 in Castor, Alberta to proud parents Ralph and Emily.

Jody grew up in Coronation until the age of 10, attending Coronation school from kindergarten to grade 4. Later, our family moved to the farm where Jody attended school in Brownfield, before returning to Coronation for High School.

Growing up, Jody was always on the go, whether it was playing volleyball, baseball, or hitting the ice for hockey. He was an active member of 4-H alongside his siblings and a whole crew of cousins. Jody had a deep love for animals. His personal assortment over the years included sharks, rabbits, hedgehogs, flying squirrels, peacocks, guinea hens, ducks, geese, cats and dogs. If it had fur, feathers, or whiskers, Jody probably had one and loved it like family.

Jody and Tamara were blessed with two beautiful daughters - Jayda Marie born on May 28, 2006, and Sienna Ray on August 16, 2007.  From the moment he became a father, Jody’s whole world changed. He embraced being a “girl dad” with his whole heart. He cherished all the time he had with his girls. Glitter, make-up, dance offs, spa days, hair styles, quad rides and road trips. Movie nights were a regular event as well, though choosing the movie was a serious decision, often taking a long time to figure out the movie choice. He was always up for a backyard fire or a spontaneous adventure like trips to the gem store, car shows, bowling, camping, or dog walking. He made even the simplest moments feel special. Whether it was cheering the girls on, making them laugh, or just being there with open arms and a full heart. His girls were his pride and joy, his purpose, and his greatest accomplishments. It wasn't about what they were doing, it was about doing it together. Jody loved his girls fiercely.

Jody was thrilled when his nieces and nephews came over. Whether it was for a sleepover or just a hangout day, you never knew what it would turn into. His house was basically summer camp with fewer rules and more snacks. The kids would come home with stories about what they did at Uncle Jody’s and honestly, we were never quite sure what to expect. The kids had the time of their lives and let's be real, so did Jody. He was a big kid at heart, and his house was basically their playground.

Jody had several hobbies. He loved making his outdoor space look great and he took a lot of  pride in his yard, especially his tomato plants. One summer, while living in Coronation, all that worked paid off when he was awarded Yard of the Week. Jody was genuinely honoured. When he felt inspired, Jody enjoyed drawing, a talent he proudly inherited from his Grandma Elliott and Grandpa Wangsness. Whether it was doodles, sketches or detailed artwork, creativity ran in his blood. In his later years, Jody found great joy in hunting. One memorable season, he had the opportunity to guide a gentleman from Washington. Jody was thrilled by the experience!

Over the years, Jody did a lot of everything-from working in the oil patch to building fences.  While living in Red Deer, he worked for an apartment building owner tiling and flooring until he joined the team at Premier Projects Supply, where he was known for his hard work, good humor, and probably a few coffee breaks that turned into storytelling sessions.

Nikki was Jody’s partner and best friend for the past 10 years. In February of 2020, they moved to Red Deer together and created a happy home filled with laughter, love and simple joys of everyday life. Whether it was working in the yard, tending their flowers and veggies, or just enjoying the comfort of each other's company. Their time together was full of care, companionship and the kind of love that made their house truly a home. Jody and Nikki loved the simple moments, like sitting out on the deck, enjoying each other's company. They would often head out to Abraham Lake with their dogs for some much needed time with nature. They embraced the peacefulness of camping, fresh air, hiking and campfires. It wasn’t about doing anything fancy, it was just about being together. Jody and Nikki also knew how to have fun, from bingo nights, wing nights, to fully embraced halloween parties, with costumes and all. Jody loved Halloween, he used to decorate the yard and was very creative in his ideas. His yard was often something the neighbours talked about and they would come around a second time to experience the display.

During their downtime, Jody and Nikki loved kicking back and watching game shows together. Jody would often race home on his lunch break just to watch the Price is Right. What they watched often depended on the night. A little friendly competition between Jody and Nikki always snuck in, especially when it came to reality shows. They had their favorites and more than a few opinions about who should win. Whether it was the shows Alone or The Amazing Race, they would each pick a contestant and root them on like it was playoffs. Bragging rights were absolutely on the line. It was their kind of fun; low key, full of laughs and just another way they enjoyed being together.

Speaking of playoffs, Jody was a die-hard Oilers fan, he especially loved the Battle of Alberta and would be psyched that McDavid took a hometown discount! GO OILERS! On game nights, even his dogs, Sieda and Sophie, got drafted sporting their Oilers shirts whether they liked it or not.

Jody will be forever missed by his loving family, partner Nikki Biason of Red Deer; daughters Jayda Elliott of Stettler and Sienna Elliott of Stettler; mother of Jody’s girls Tamara Elliott of Stettler; mother Emily Elliott of Coronation,  father Ralph Elliott of Coronation; brother Curtis (Tammy) Elliott of Coronation; sister Kim (Chris) Grubisic of Coronation; nieces and nephews: Courtney Elliott (McGuire Kent) of Castor, Colby Elliott of Coronation, Ryan Elliott of Coronation, Cole Elliott (Gemma Oxley) of Lethbridge, Isaac Grubisic of Coronation, Bensen “B Man” Grubisic of Coronation, Nikki’s auntie Mik “Guido,” furry friends: Sweetie Pie Sieda, Big Bear Sophie, many family members and other dear friends and neighbours.

In remembering Jody, it’s his smile that so often comes to mind first. In his younger years, Jody’s smile-or signature smirk, was big and often a giveaway that mischief was in progress or had just been successfully pulled off. As he grew older, that smile became something even more unforgettable. It stayed with you, warm, genuine and full of life. It was a reflection of his kind heart, his playful spirit and the deep love he had for the people in his life. It’s a smile that will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
