So saddened to learn of David's passing. He and Gaila both left memorable marks in my heart. Great memories were created in Mexico. He was a good man and I will miss him.

I have so many memories of my Uncle David throughout my life. From being a little kid to seeing him most recently at my wedding last year, it meant so much that he made the trip out to B.C. to be there.
Some of my favourite memories are of camping and laughing with Auntie Gaila and Uncle David. Those moments are such a special part of my childhood. After Auntie passed, we stayed in touch, and even though I saw him less often as I got older, we always exchanged Christmas and birthday messages. He never failed to remind me that he loved me, and I always felt that.
There is not one single moment that stands above the rest. Looking back, I realize that it isn’t one single big moment that stands out. It’s the consistency, the steady presence, the feeling of knowing he was always there. I am really going to miss him. He was a wonderful uncle, and he will always hold a special place in my heart.
May he rest in peace. ❤️

We met Dave an Gala some 25 years ago in Mexico. After the passing of Gala. The three of us became even closer. We took weekly trips to the markets, looking for stuff we didn't need. Dave bought Mexican shirts he loved these shirts. We would go see a local fishermen named Valentine, to plan a trip out of Barra De Navidad. The boat had to have a English speaking person. a bathroom, and no "Corona beer". We never catch anything but it was always fun. After we would go have lunch. We will miss him

I had the opportunity to know David and Gaila since I was a teenager, and I continued to see him every winter for six months until today, at 47. He was always a cheerful person to me, and he loved to fish. I thank God for having had him close for so many years. I send him a hug to heaven, and I know he's fishing now with lovely Gaila.

Our memories are over flowing and our tears express the deep sorrow that our hearts cannot put into words. The laughter and joy both on and off the golf course shall be a little dimmer in the years to come. Thursday night campfires will be missing you. Dave your words, one liners and antics always put a smile on our faces. John, Steve and Amy will miss you, their golf partner/friend plus your putting and I shall miss hearing these words ‘well coach…?’
Now all your drives will be down the middle of the fairway.
Rest in Peace
Steve, Linda & Amy Hrynchuk

Karen and I were saddened to hear of David's passing. We had the pleasure of spending our winters with David and Gaila in Perula in 2006 and beyond. Many hours of laughing to the tall tales David likes to boast about. Happy hours were never dull.
Fishing and crib were a daily event that will always bring a smile to our hearts. Many hours spent chatting about who caught the big
one, and for some reason David always thought it was him. We laughed as we all knew Gaila was the winner most times.
We had great poor man's golf game. At times we would invite the neighboring campground over for a tournament and fish fry
where there was a vast amount of our favorite tequila <AZUL> consumed. I nicknamed David GRIZZLE. He was very competitive
and did not like to lose.
David had a heart of gold and would always step up to the plate. That's just the way he was.
We will miss our calls keeping in touch, but most of all David our Perula Buddy. You touched our lives in a special way and we
will miss you always.
Rest in Peace our dear friend. Till we meet again....
Your B.C. Buds Al and Karen

A few years ago my husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Dave at our son and daughter-in-law’s (Jason and Shauna) Bashaw trailer site! I cannot remember the actual celebration but there were quite a few there getting together to visit and celebrate! You could tell by the conversation and the visiting around the campfire that Dave was not just a neighbor; not just a friend but he was family! Young and old loved his presence! I do preserves each year, we took some of my mustard pickles out to the site and he absolutely loved them! Every year after, he was always in my thoughts as I made them up ensuring I had more than a couple jars put aside with his name on them! He was so appreciative of them and I was thrilled he liked them so much! He was a true gentleman and I know that Bashaw bunch will never be the same without him! He was a pleasure to know!
