Obituary of Michael James Lyman MacDonald
In Loving Memory
Mike MacDonald
May 31, 1964 ~ June 14, 2026
Sadly, Mike passed away suddenly in a motor vehicle accident on June 14, 2026. Mike was born and raised in Stettler and spent most of his life in and around Stettler except for one adventure to the Yukon for a short time. As a child he enjoyed the outdoors and decided school was not his thing so when old enough he went out into the workforce spending time in the oilpatch for the most part and was a hard worker. Over the years, he would much rather be riding horses, going to the mountains, going hunting, motorbiking, and tinkering with vehicles. And when Jesse and Matt came along, he shared all those passions with them. Mike and his dad spent a lot of time in the mountains, and he learned how to ride horses at the age of 2! On these mountain trips, Mike, at the age of 4, was riding his own horse up the mountains to everyone’s surprise. Throughout life, Mike was always cheery, had a heart of gold, was upbeat no matter what the circumstance, and always had a big smile and hugs for everyone. He kept us laughing, shaking our heads and making memories we’ll never forget.
Mike leaves behind his children: Jesse (Christie) and Matt (Amara); stepchildren Amber and Colin; grandchildren: Lincoln, Cypress, Kasper, Levin, Dillan, Damien, Ashton, Robyn, Jayna, Savannah, Taylor, Kodie, Jace, Summer, Karliahh, Colt, Wesson, and Ranger; father Jim (Marie);
sister Michelle (Richard); partner Tia and her children Kianna and Jade, her grandchildren Elijah, Kassius, Abel, Victoria and Lexi; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.
Mike was predeceased by his mother Norma MacDonald; grandparents: Tolly (Gerald) Kromm, Elmer Connor, Cam and Jeanne MacDonald.
He Lived Life His Way
He laughed a little louder,
Loved a little stronger,
And walked roads few dared to roam.
He chased adventure, followed his heart,
And never pretended to be anyone but himself
Though his journey was not always easy,
His spirit was free and unforgettable.
May we remember not only how he left us,
But how fiercely he lived.
