It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Blakely Nels Torney of Federal, Alberta on July 2, 2026, at Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital, Castor, Alberta at the age of sixty seven.
Blake was born in Coronation, Alberta to William (Bill) and Velma Torney on July 10, 1958. Blake was raised on a farm northwest of Veteran, Alberta with his two older sisters, Irene and Monica.
Blake attended the Veteran School from grade one to nine, at which time his parents sold the farm and moved to Coronation, where he then attended the Coronation school from grade ten to twelve.
Blake began his career after graduation for Alberta Power at Twin Lakes, Alberta for a short time and decided to come back to Coronation to be with the love of his life, Wendy Kary and was married June 27, 1981. Together they purchased a home at Federal, Alberta and have lived there for 45 years.
Throughout the years Blake had many different careers in the oil patch which started as a rig worker, then moved on to pipeline jobs throughout Alberta. As the years passed, Blake decided to change careers again to one closer to home where he started to work at the Coronation Landfill in 2004. He worked his way up to the supervisor, until he retired in 2020.
