Obituary of Joseph Roger George Dellezay
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Roger George Dellezay (April 15, 1954 – July 7, 2026), beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Roger was the kindest of men, whose warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and loved. He never met a stranger—only friends he hadn't gotten to know yet. Whether you knew him for a lifetime or only a few moments, you walked away feeling like a friend.
Roger was blessed to experience two great loves in his life. He shared nearly 50 years of marriage with his first love, Judy Charlotte Dellezay, whose passing left an immeasurable void in his heart. In time, he was fortunate to find love again and married Elasia on February 14, 2024. She brought companionship, laughter, and happiness back into his life, and together they created many cherished memories.
To his children, Greg and Melissa, he was simply the best dad anyone could ask for—steady, supportive, encouraging, and always ready with love, wisdom, a sarcastic comment, or a helping hand. Family was the center of his world.
Nothing brought Roger greater joy than being "Pa" to his five treasured grandchildren. He delighted in watching them grow, celebrating every milestone, and filling their lives with laughter, encouragement, and unconditional love. Never one to miss an opportunity for good-natured teasing, he had already begun reminding his grandsons that he was looking forward to meeting great-grandchildren one day.
Roger had an extraordinary way with children. Much like Santa Claus, he had a magical ability to make every child feel seen, important, and special. His warm smile, twinkling eyes, playful spirit, and genuine interest in others created lasting memories for countless children whose lives were brighter because of him. He had a way of making every child believe they were the most important person in the room.
Roger was also a lifelong and devoted Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. Through every season, he proudly cheered on his beloved Riders with unwavering loyalty, celebrating the victories and faithfully standing by them through the losses. Watching a game was always better when it was shared with family and friends, accompanied by laughter, good-natured banter, and the hope that this would be the year.
Roger was predeceased by his wife, Judy; his parents, Joseph and Malvina Dellezay, his sister Yvonne Dellezay, his brother Edmour Dellezay; and his parent-in-laws Victor and Hazel Grewcock. Roger leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Elasia; his son, Greg (Tara) Dellezay; his daughter, Melissa (Leigh) Green; his cherished grandchildren, Tristan and Ethan Green, and Sophie, Harper, and Violet Dellezay; as well as Elasia's children and grandchildren, his six beloved siblings and their spouses; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Roger's legacy is one of kindness, compassion, generosity, laughter, and unwavering love. He taught us that the true measure of a life is found not in accomplishments or possessions, but in the people we love and the lives we touch. While our hearts are broken by his passing, we are profoundly grateful for the example he set and the countless memories he leaves behind. His love will continue to guide us, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A life so well lived leaves a legacy that time can never erase.
Roger will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to STARS Air Ambulance.
There will be no formal service at this time.
