Luz Maria Tuckwood

Luz Tuckwood passed away on July 9, 2026, at the Red Deer General Hospital at the age of seventy eight. Lately a resident of Stettler, Alberta, Luz was a former resident of Bashaw and New Norway.

Luz was born on April 18, 1948, in the Philippines to Gildergarda Sabit Atienza and Jacinto Magabilin Ballistoy. In 1980, she married Art Tuckwood in the Philippines and immigrated to Canada shortly after. They lived in Calgary for a number of years before moving to New Norway, and later, Bashaw.

Luz enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends. While living in Bashaw, she valued the company of the other local seniors, often joining them for games of bingo and cards.

She is survived by her niece, Arlene Ballistoy, her great niece and great-nephews, and her siblings: Carlos, Celso, Elena, Charities, and Rose.

Luz was predeceased by her husband, Art Tuckwood, in 2012.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.

Luz will be interred alongside her husband, Art, in Drumheller at a later date.
