Gerry Konschuh

Obituary of Gerry James Konschuh

Gerry was born and raised in the Red Willow and Donalda districts. Gerry received his schooling at Star Ridge and Science Mound until Grade 9. Then Gerry worked on various farms in the surrounding area. He started working on the rigs at about age 20 for a few years. He met Leona Stanvick at a Red Willow dance, eventually leading to marriage on September 26, 1959. During their first years of marriage Gerry worked at Central Garage for the Hjorth’s in Donalda. It was at this time they started their family, Wade was born in 1960 and Sherry in 1963. After working at the garage he went to work for Bob Holliday at the John Deere shop where he started working on tractors. He then worked for his brother Ron for a short time before purchasing Donalda Service from Walter Halseth. The family ran this business from 1969 to 1976 where vehicles were repaired, however more smear games were played with many beers shared with the likes of Johnny Matheson, Roger Hauser, Grandpa Ray, and too many more to name or incriminate. Gerry and family moved to Stettler where he worked for Stettler Farm Equipment for the next 15 years. Then he started a mobile mechanic service working for farmers until his retirement at age 65. Gerry liked camping and fishing, snowmobiling, playing cards and outdoor games especially horse shoes but most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. Gerry enjoyed life leaving us with many laughs and fond memories. Gerry is survived by his loving family: wife Leona Konschuh of Stettler; son Wade (Bev) Konschuh and their children Parker and Rebecca of Sundre; daughter Sherry (Lawrence) Derrick and their sons Dustin (Heather) and Devon of Stettler; brother Ron (Denise) Konschuh of Stettler; sister Pat (Bob) Evans of Cloverdale, BC; brothers in law Lloyd (Carol) Stanvick of Red Deer, Lester (Maryanne) Stanvick of Carbon, Loren (Judy) Stanvick of Stettler; sister in law Linda (Randy) Jones of Donalda; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends. Gerry was predeceased by his parents Jean and Dave Konschuh; his parents in law Rosa and John Stanvick and recently his nephew Mike Evans.
