Obituary of Penelope Maeve Lyall
Penelope Maeve Lyall was born in Calgary on May 12, 1948 to Ida (Calhoun) and Charles Murray Lyall. At the age of two Maeve and her family moved to Stettler. Due to the oil boom there was a great shortage of housing and the Lyalls rented the second floor of a house that belonged to John Crawford and his daughter Edna. Maeve’s father died that year and her mother stayed in the house and Aunty Edna Crawford looked after the children while their mother worked. When Maeve was ten, her mother passed away and her and her brother were left to be cared for by Aunty Edna.
Maeve is survived by her son Tom Knecht (Erin Erickson) and their children Dakota and Kristopher of Sundre, daughter Carolyn (Mike) Charron and their children Gage and Jayden of Quesnel, BC, son Curtis (Leizan) Knecht and their son Jonah of Edmonton, grandsons Brandon and Cheyney Martin and their mother Laureen Martin-Ortwepp; sister in law Margaret Lyall of Leduc; nephew James Lyall of Edmonton; the father of her children Dale Knecht of Quesnel, BC; other family members and many dear friends.
Maeve was predeceased by her father in 1950, her mother in 1958, her brother Charles, and Aunty Edna Crawford.
