Obituary of Walter Prockiw

Mr. Walter Prockiw passed away June 4, 2020 at Heritage House in Stettler at the age of 97 years.  Walter was born October 26, 1922 at Winnipeg, Manitoba.  At the age of 16 Wally and a friend hitched a ride on a train across the prairies to work at the Banff Springs Hotel.  W.W. II broke out and he joined the RCAF squadron #426 in 1942 flying thirty four missions over Germany.  After the war Wally stayed with the Airforce until retiring in Ottawa and continued his job as a civil servant. Walter met and married Mary Georgina Jocelyn Luyendyk in Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 4, 1947. 

His passion was definitely golfing.  In his last days he spoke of it often wishing he could go one last time.

Dad also enjoyed his Friday date nights with a burger and beer with his family.

We will miss you Dad, you will live on in our memories forever. 

He is lovingly remembered by his family: Charles (Helena) Prockiw, Elaine (Kevin) Haley and Carolyn (Dennis) Lilgert; grandchildren Ashley (Steve), Andrew (Jessica), Alexandrea (Kevin), Justine and Ryan; great grandchildren: Etnee, Georja, Ayla, Teagan, Jordyn, Audrey, Ryley and Elizabeth; brothers in law: Doug Luyendyk and Bill Laschuk; other family and many dear friends.

Predeceased by his wife Georgee; parents Nicholas and Nellie; brothers Joe (Pam), Teddy (Vera); family: Bunny, Bill, Doug, Audrey and Connie; other friends and family.
