In Loving Memory

Elaine Porisky

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of our sweet mother, Elaine Porisky, of Stettler, Alberta on July 31, 2020 at the age of 80. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: David (Petra) Porisky, Morinville, AB;

Mike Porisky, Surrey, BC; Doug Porisky, Surrey, BC; Sharon (Malcolm) Fischer, Stettler, AB;

Sandra (Dan) McNaughton, Fall River, NS; Grandchildren Sydney McNaughton, Jacob McNaughton,

Justin (Dacia) Fleischhacker, Braden (Jessica Harvey) Fleischhacker, Echo Porisky, Kiera Porisky,

Richard (Twyla) Porisky, Angela Laduke, Courtney (Dusty) Lantz, Miranda Berger, Mindy Judd,

Samantha (Adam) Bishop; 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild:

brothers Gord (Jennifer) Dancey, Bellville, ON, Terry (Heidi) Dancey, Northville, MI,

sister-in-law Carolyn Dancey, Waterloo, ON, half-sister Cathie Morrision, New Hamburg, ON,

extended family, numerous friends and her faithful companion Ryder.

She was predeceased by her husband Russell Porisky, infant son Keith, parents Ruby and Lloyd Dancey,

and her brother Ron Dancey.

Elaine valued the happiness of others often over her own. This was expressed through kind and selfless acts such as knitting a sweater, touque or mittens for someone in need, cooking and sharing a meal, or lending a compassionate, non-judgemental ear. One very clear example of this kind of selflessness is the extent she went to being a taxi service for friends, neighbours, and acquaintances needing otherwise unavailable transportation to appointments, often involving long distances. Thus, as can be easily seen, she had a genuine passion for life and for helping others. Mom could see beneath the surface to the heart of a problem or issue, and was always willing to help.

She was rarely one to complain and was always grateful for what she had.

Mom loved her family and instilled them with strong values, a sense of pride and a solid faith.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, sense of humour, and gentle spirit. She will be dearly

missed and in our hearts forever.

Donations in her memory can be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation

or to the Stettler Health Services Foundation.
