I tried to log on when I heard, but was too soon.
I was so sorry to hear that Leo passed. I was especially thankful that I could help him in the past year. We used to joke that us two bachelors needed to take advantage of all the home cooked meals we could get. I was fortunate to have known Leo.

To the family of Leo, so sad to hear of your loss, he was a special man and a great loss to your family and to our community. May he rest in peace in the arms of his wife Dodie.

I was sorry to read of Leo's passing. He & I had several conversations a few years ago discussing our painful treatment of "Shingles".
I remember the office holding "open House" to introduce us all to their first computer (it was as big as a metal filing cabinet down in the basement).
Years (many years) ago when I worked in the Town Office (1960's) I remember doing water bills by hand in that block where Leo lived - Sloan's, Strain's, MacNaughton's', Weere's, Hunchuk"s, Eisentraut's and the Gitzel's. Imagine Leo still living in his own house at 94 years!
He was a very nice man and went about doing good. His family will have great memories.

My condolences to the Gitzel, Kubitza and Koehler families. I first met Leo in 1962 and consider myself blessed for his friendship over the years. He had an exceptional sense of humour and leadership qualities that were passed on to everyone he worked with. He will certainly be missed, but his example of leadership and friendship will carry on.

My condolences to the Gitzel family. I knew Leo as a highly respected Chartered Accountant which was reflected in him being recognized with the honorary designation, Fellow of the Chartered Accountants many decades ago. He served on the governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (predecessor organization to CPA Alberta) back in the 1970's. I had the pleasure of interacting with him over my 26 years as an executive officer of the Institute. He was a professional in every sense of the word, always considerate, thoughtful and engaged.

We met Leo when we moved to Stettler in the 1950's and have stayed in touch all these years. We heard only today (7/1/21) of his passing....we know he's with Dodie and out of pain now. Leo had been making plans to visit us in California and we were looking forward to seeing him !! We send our love to his Family....and hope they'll keep in touch with us. Love and Hugs from The Morgan Family

To Leo's family I offer condolences on behalf of my dad George Hennig. Leo and George were school mates back in Stony Plain. My dad always spoke highly of Leo and Dodie.

We are saddened to hear of Leo’s passing. Glorene and I moved to Stettler in 1978 and attended many many functions in and around Stettler where Leo and Dodie would also be in attendance. If there was music those two would always be the first ones up dancing. Leo was a strong community member, involved in a wide variety of clubs and boards and enriched the lives of so many who had the privilege of knowing him. He always took the time to chat with each of us or both of us and was a true gentleman for all the years we knew him. I once played racquetball with Leo, Dave MacNaughton and Bill Baergen. Dave had warned me that Leo and Bill were tenacious players. That turned out to be an understatement.
We are all richer for having known Leo and poorer for now having lost him.
David and Glorene Ellis

Tender thoughts and prayers are with all of you -- Leo's circle of family, church family, colleagues and friends. We've been glad to have known his good company over the years. Cross-country skiing, with evenings spent at the fireplace at Goldeye Centre, and dance-band music and fun, is a good memory that immediately comes to mind. Hold fast to that which death cannot take away, and take good care of one another as you live into the legacy he's left to/for you. Peace & Blessings, Bob and Jan Richardson

To Leo’s Family, I was saddened to hear of Leo’s passing. I will miss the opportunity to have a short visit with my kind, gentle neighbour two doors down. He always welcomed me with his ready smile for my ‘annual visit’ when I was canvassing for a charity.
I have been in awe of Leo’s devoted family; so often I saw Patti’s vehicle there at lunch time & Barry and Leo walking past my house on the weekend to the restaurant next door. He will be missed.
