Obituary of Bob Marshall

Please share a memory of Bob to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert (Bob) was born on September 2, 1941 in Stettler, Alberta to parents Margaret and George Marshall. He attended school in Stettler, he dropped out briefly to help support his mother and sister when his father passed away young but returned to complete his GED before attending Olds College where he earned a Degree in Agriculture.  It was also here where he met his room-mate’s sister, Shirley, who would become his wife of 55 years.  After a short stay in Calgary, Bob and Shirley returned to the family farm in Stetter, which would be home to their three sons, Bruce, Don, and Scott.  Bob worked as a long-haul truck driver for many years, and while he enjoyed the freedom of the road, he was always most happy returning to his family and home in Stettler.  He was always a dreamer and had regrets that many of his dreams never came true, but he also failed to give himself credit for the successes that he did have, namely sons who have gone on to have happy marriages and careers of their own, and his own marriage, which weathered many storms and enjoyed many happy memories.  Bob passed away on June 22, 2021 in Stettler, Alberta at the age of 79 years.  He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, and he will be missed.

Bob is survived by his loving family: wife of 55 years Shirley Marshall (Dowie) of Stettler; sons: Bruce (Sharon) Marshall of Red Deer County, Don (Jennifer) Marshall of Calgary and Scott (Danica) Marshall of Calgary; grandpuppy Bailey of Red Deer County, granddaughters Meghan and Kaitlyn of Calgary, grandsons Duncan and Connor of Calgary; brothers and sisters: Robert (Diana) Dowie of Campbell River, Noriene Hood of Calgary, Rosemary Dowie of Erskine and David (Lana) Dowie of Winndel, BC; numerous nieces, nephews other family and many friends.

Bob was predeceased by his sister Janet Roberts, brother-in-law William “Bill” Hood; sister-in-law Fran McAdam and grandson Malcolm Joseph Marshall.

No formal funeral service will be held.
