Joe was a mountain of a man in so many aspects of his life. Glorene and I spent many a day with Joe building sets and putting finishing touches on numerous HATS productions. We also saw Joe at many of the social functions in Stettler. He was an outgoing man about town. I remember Joe being the entertainment on the Wednesday ski bus years ago. He fell once going his usual full out style and when he finally came to a stop there was a deep trench which would have been worthy of a new river bed.
We were not able to attend the funeral in person but we did watch it on the webcast. The tributes painted such an accurate picture of Joe and gave us many laughs hearing so many personal stories. He is a figure that will be missed by many in the community and elsewhere. It was our good fortune to have known Joe.
Our sincere sympathies.

So sorry to read of Joe's passing. What a lot of fun we had in those early years through hockey. Many good times that Nelson still talks about often.

To Joan and family, we wish to sincerely express our sadness at the loss from this world of such a wonderful human being, a friend to all; always bringing a smile to everyone’s face. Shared many memories from my time at Heartland Equipment and shop parties. One in particular at your farm, where prairie oysters were being proudly served up. Joe, as a treat decided to pass a bowl of candies to the ladies; the “bowl” being a tanned bull’s scrotum, including the hair on the exterior! Joe’s joy at the reaction he got was priceless! Such fun! Denise was able to join you on livestream for Joe’s service. She commented on what a beautiful and heartfelt tribute. May the Lord welcome Joe into his loving arms, saying “Well done, my faithful servant, come and receive your reward, as it is endless Joy, Happiness and Peace”.
Ernie and Denise Gamroth, Galahad AB

I have very found memories of Uncle Joe and his boat out in the Shuswap. All of us cousins out there having a blast. Uncle Joe knew all the best cliff jumping spots that definitely tested a kids courage. Great man with an infectious laugh.

I will always remember the stories my husband, Gary, told me of the trip on a houseboat with Joe. We laughed for years after in the retelling of that trip. We thought the world of Joe. Joe would always come up to me whenever he saw me for a little chat. Always with a huge smile on his face. My condolences to Joan and her family!

We send love, prayers and hugs your way in the sad loss of Joe. I loved Joe’s approach to life. Usually I would just see him once a year at music festival, but he would always be in the audience, very appreciative, and cheering on the performers. We will really miss that enthusiastic supporter of young and old alike.

All of my favourite memories of uncle Joe involve laughter. Watching him flap his arms around whenever he told the story of “Milly & Tilly” has to be one of the greatest belly busters of all time.
Much love to the family and everyone Joe touched
