In Loving Memory of Marguerite Baugh

March 4, 1920 ~ January 14, 2022

Marguerite Baugh (nee Wittwer) died peacefully in Stettler at the age of 101 years, 10 months, and 10 days.

Born in Brunig, Switzerland to Hans and Pauline Wittwer, the family were among the early Swiss immigrants to the Bluemenau Settlement east of Stettler.  Marguerite married Jim Baugh in 1946.  At that time, she quit teaching at country schools and was a full-time mother of six children.  She returned to her profession as a substitute after they were in school.

For the Baugh’s, travelling was always fun times.  They loved visiting family in Rome, Italy and reconnecting with cousins in Switzerland.  Mom and Dad also enjoyed car trips around Canada and winters in Victoria.  Mom had made friends in Victoria and continued to go there after dad's passing.

A woman of heart and courage Marguerite’s enduring legacy is in her generous kindness, helping hands, and caring ways admired throughout her life.  She enjoyed baking, gardening and visiting with family and friends.  Her vibrant faith and service in the United Church were an example to all who knew her.

She is survived by her loving children Catherine (Barry) Dorin, David Baugh, Mary Ellen Sikabonyi, Lois (Gary) Innocent, and Karen Baugh.  Marguerite was predeceased by daughter Virginia (1973), husband Jim (1996), son-in-law Laszlo (1998), sisters Rosemarie and Hattie, brothers John and Carl.  She will be sadly missed by her sister Linda (Jim) Therou; grandchildren Ryan (Pattamon) Dorin, Curtis (Patti) Dorin, Jack Innocent, Janelle Innocent, Alex Sikabonyi, Margot Sikabonyi, Cyal Baugh and eight great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Points West Living for the wonderful care she received for the past three years.  Also thank you to Stettler medical care and Marguerite's circle of amazing friends who have always kept her in their hearts.

A Celebration of  Marguerite’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stettler United Church, Stettler, Alberta.  To view Marguerite Baugh's funeral service as it's livestreamed (2:00 pm Saturday, June 11th ) and/or at a later time/datepleas visit     https://youtu.be/tJRsI1L0qo8
