Cheryl was born in Lethbridge, AB on June 6, 1975. Cheryl was adopted by her loving parents in July 1975 where she grew up on Paulron Farms.
She was always the first to be out helping working the cows and helping on the farm.
Cheryl attended Theresetta school for elementary and junior high years and graduated with the class of 1993 at Gus Wetter High school.
Growing up Cheryl was a sporty gal known for being ‘Amo’ and her volleyball ‘flick’ that scored a lot of points. Cheryl always loved helping people, during high school she completed her Lifeguard courses and was found during the summer working at the Castor pool or teaching swimming lessons. This ignited her passion for persuing a career in Emergency medical service.
Cheryl completed her EMR training following high school and in 1995, she completed her EMT training in St. Albert as she continued to work with Castor Ambulance.
In 1998, Cheryl made her way to Edson, AB where she called home for 14 years. Cheryl began her EMT career in Edson in Sept 1998. She went on to become the Supervisor of Staff and Operations and 911 Center at Yellowhead Ambulance. During her years in Edson she started her company CW Medical and worked on her days off as a Field Safety Officer.
In June 2009, Cheryl continued her EMT career with Barrhead Ambulance that later became Associated Ambulance.
Cheryl endured a tragic accident while working at Medicine Lodge Rodeo on May 13, 2017 that forever changed her life as she was not able to do what she loved most; be in an ambulance or working as the EMS at local Rodeos.
In May 2018, Chery received The Emergency Medical Services Exemplary service medal for her recognition of 20 years of loyal and exemplary service in responding to prehospital emergencies in Canada.
Throughout Cheryl’s life and career she touched many lives with her big smile and laughter.
She had a natural ability to keep any situation calm whether that be in the corrals with the animals, amongst family and most importantly on the job.
Cheryl always was telling someone, ‘focus’ or ‘we got this.’
She loved country music and was always rocking out and singing her heart out; she would still cruise main every time she went home to the farm for a visit.
Cheryl will be dearly missed and loved by many. Her humour, laughter, and smile could light up anyone.
