Obituary of Stanley Phillip Konschuh
It is with very heavy hearts that the family announces Stan’s journey with us has come to end. Stanley Phillip Konschuh was born to Adam and Lydia Konschuh on February 12, 1930 and passed away on July 22, 2022 at the age of 92 years in Stettler, AB.
Stan grew up on a farm near Cluny, Alberta and was the 8th of 9 siblings and was the last surviving member. He married Haddie Borger on Oct. 6, 1956 and they were married for 63 years. Together they took over the family grain and cattle farm in 1957. In 2002, they semi-retired and moved the family home to the Alix area where he continued to raise cattle for numerous years.
Stan took flying lessons in Calgary and eventually obtained a pilot’s license. Stan and Haddie traveled to the United States, Hawaii, and British Columbia but in general Stan did not want to go far from home. There was always cows to look after, fences to be fixed, seeding, summer fallowing, haying and harvesting to be done – and the home farm really was his passion. Family and friends enjoyed coming to visit, and Stan and Haddie were always very hospitable.
Stan was an ardent horseman and would ride year-round and loved to go to rodeos when time allowed. Stan was an avid reader and nature lover. He liked to play Crib and taught his children and grandchildren to play. He enjoyed Sabbath afternoon drives in the countryside, and he often found a place to stop for ice cream or a cup of coffee. Stan also liked to take naps either in the south-facing sunny front room or in the truck out in the field.
Stan is survived by his children Cathy (Peter) Goslin and their children Sylvia (Chadrick) Carley, Terry (Erin) Goslin; Paul (Isabelle) Konschuh and their children Kelsey and Karlee; Arlene (Ken) Salacki and their son Kale; great grandchildren Teagan, Quinn and Levi Goslin.
Stan is predeceased by wife Haddie; parents Adam and Lydia Konschuh; children Perry and Christy; granddaughter Shayla Salacki; brothers Walter and Harry; sisters: Florence, Ida, Edna, Mildred, Viola and Evelyn.
The family wishes to thank the special considerate care of Points West staff.
In memory of Stan, host a get-together with your family; have rich conversations and laughter while enjoying a great meal. We look forward to the day when we will be reunited.
Until then, Dad, rest in peace.
