Mel is survived by his loving wife of 56 + years Julie; sons Darryl (Loretta) of Lac la Biche, Darcy (Jessica) of Castor; grandsons Jarret (Alyssa) of Tofield, Braxton (Jaime) of Edmonton; brother Elvin (Valerie) of Saskatoon; sister Janice (Paul) Valleé of Bonnyville; sister in law Evelyn Falkenberg and twelve nieces and nephews.

Mel was predeceased by his parents Katherine and Albert; sister Inez; brother Harvey; grandsons Julius and Daniel.
