I remember living just down the street from Ethel and her husband when I was very young. (3 to 5 years old) ( The Rusks.) I went to Ethels house when I was older (Junior High) and she gave me some art lessons and she praised my painting and said that it was just as good as the paintings that were in the Banff Art Gallery. I never forgot that, Another memory I had when I was about 3 to 4 years old when we lived down the street from Ethel, one of my neighbor friends told me to pick the tulips in the Williams front garden and to give them to my mom and it was okay to pick them. So being so young I believed that and picked some beautiful tulips. I presented them to my mom and she was just mortified and asked where I picked them. I had to go and apologize to Mr. Williams and he was most gracious toward me considering that I remember that my mom told me those were his prize tulips and was going to enter them into the annual flower competition at the fair. I remember all these years later how understanding Mr. Williams was when I apologized. Also, I have a cookbook that I kept after my mom passed away, signed by Ethel from the Eastern Star that I cherish and use to this day. My heartfelt condolences with the loss of a wonderful person.
