Obituary of Gabe Miles
In Loving Memory of Gabe Miles
May 1, 2003 ~ July 10, 2023
Gabriel Lloyd Miles was born 2 weeks early. He had been impatient to join our world which was typical of Gabe! He joined his brother Caleb and those two little boys kept Kelly and Colby’s life fun and eventful! A short while later brother Domonic joined the crew and Gabe became the proverbial middle child- easy going, agreeable and social.
Gabe was a happy, adventurous toddler and child. He went to Botha Elementary School and then Wm. E. Hay Secondary School graduating in 2021. His teachers and friends always commented that Gabe was the child that got along with all his peers.
Learning to weld was a passion. He made a log splitter for Grandpa Wayne. He and his Dad recently made a rock box for the tractor. He wanted to experience the different work environments of a welder; working on a pipeline crew by Fox Creek, his apprenticeship at Care Industries in Blackfalds, and after he completed his 1st year welding at RDP, the job he absolutely loved at Score Projects. Gabe had a dream to set up his own welding truck and when he set his mind to something it would get accomplished.
Gabe was an athlete, willing to try out any activity. He loved ice skating, rollerblading, golfing, pedal boating, rafting, shooting and bowling. Snowmobiling was a favorite in the winter. He looked forward to our annual family camping trips and hikes. He loved watersports, fishing and driving the boat. He excelled at soccer, skiing and snowboarding and of course dirt biking.
Gabe was excited to begin a life back on the farm, looking forward to helping out at harvest. He was a big help during seeding this spring. As a child he had loved combine and tractor rides with Daddy or Grandpa and running the combine independently as a teenager. Now as a young adult, he kept saying how great it was to be able to be back. He could dirt bike again, go fishing in the dugout, and be close to his numerous friends. He and Autumn were setting up the ‘little house’ at the farm and it was great having them there so close to family and friends.
Gabe’s warm sparkling brown eyes, winning smile and infectious laugh made him loveable to anyone who met him. He could brighten your day just with his smile and ‘Hello’ in his special way. His big kind heart had him drop anything off his list to help his many friends and family. He was polite, respectful, hardworking and fun. He gave the best hugs and expressed his love freely to his family. He will be missed forever.
Gabe leaves his loving family, parents Colby Miles and Kelly Harrison-Miles; brothers Caleb Miles and Domonic Miles; girlfriend Autumn Thompson; grandparents Moe and Susan Miles and Wayne and Cheryl Harrison; aunt Melissa Dietrich and cousins Rachel Dietrich and Julia Dietrich; aunt and uncle Christi and Richard White and cousins Ryan White and Nyah White; many dear friends and co-workers. Gabe was predeceased by his uncle Bob Dietrich, great grandmas Dorothy McCord and Alberta Harrison.
