Obituary of Robert James Dunington
Robert James Dunington
1946 -2024
In loving memory of Robert (Bob) James Dunington, who peacefully departed from this world on April 21, 2024, at the age of 78. Bob's life, marked by warmth and kindness, touched the hearts of many, leaving behind a tapestry of cherished memories and an enduring legacy.
Bob's zest for life was infectious, and he cherished every moment spent with family and friends alike. His passion for travel took him far and wide, but he always found solace in the company of loved ones. An avid enthusiast of the slots, Bob's laughter and jovial spirit filled many hearts. His adventurous soul often led him down the open road, where he shared tales of his experiences with friends and family.
Bob worked with Eecol for forty-five years starting in Calgary with warehouse, counter sales and order sales. He then moved to Red Deer moving into the outdoor sales, after a few years took on a position as an assistant purchaser in Edmonton. Then finally was the only purchaser until his retirement.
Bob had a passion for golf and any chance he could he was out on the greens working on his game. He loved watching golf on TV.
Bob's circle of companionship extended beyond his family to include cherished friends who stood by his side through life's journey. Surviving him are his dear friends: Ken Anderson (Angie), Allison Linklater, Larry Linklater, Charlie Brenner, and Don Strome (Thelma). Their camaraderie enriched Bob's life, filling it with laughter and shared experiences. Bob was lovingly supported by Corinne Jesso-Bates, Wendy McJunkin, and Roberta Dahl, whose unwavering presence eased his journey and brought solace to his soul.
Bob is fondly remembered and survived by his brothers: Richard Dunington (Josephine), Leonard Dunington and Gerald Dunnington (Alvina); sister Joanne Welsh (Glen); nieces and nephews: Del Welsh (Sunday) Welsh, Sandi Welsh (Dustin), Wayne Dunnington (Angela), Pam Dunnington, Terri Mullet (Mel), Joyce (Jim) Waite, Mark Schochenmaier, Janet Schochenmaier and Mervin (Vanessa) Schochenmaier; as well as his beloved “adopted” nephews and niece: Tim Linklater (Shalyn), Josh Linklater (Deja), Jeff Strome (Jennifer) and Michelle Hymers (Desmond). He leaves behind a multitude of great-nieces, nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews all of whom held a special place in his heart.
In the realm of his memories, Bob joins his predeceased family members: his parents, Jack and Helen Dunington, and his sister, Patty Voltary.
Though Bob may have departed from our midst, his spirit remains alive in the memories he created and the love he shared. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his legacy of love and laughter will endure through the generations. Rest peacefully, dear Bob, knowing that you are forever cherished and remembered.
A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to CNIB or the charity of your choice.
