Beverly Carl Goodkey

October 6th, 1941 ~ November 14th, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we share that Bev Goodkey (Bever) passed away on Thursday November 14th, 2024 in Castor, Alberta.

Bev was born in Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital on October 6th, 1941 and passed away in that same hospital 83 years later. The only child of mother Gladys Goodkey (nee Blauel) and father Carl Goodkey, Bev spent his early school years in many different Alberta communities before returning to Castor for his high school years. Always up for a challenge, opportunity, or adventure, he worked in a tailor shop, a florist, several mines, and saw mills—everywhere you can imagine through Alberta and BC. Settling on Vancouver Island in the early 1970’s, Bev started a family and an automotive, body and repair business and enjoyed many years, making life-long friends, before moving the family to Hope BC in 1989, working as a Millwright at the Boston Bar Saw Mill. In 1998, he returned home to Castor to be closer to his mom, and in the process built a life here with his wife, making many new friends, and reconnecting with past ones.

Bev is survived by his wife Susan; children Katie and Morgan; grandchildren: Hannah, Josh, Lucas, Oliver, and Marlee. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family wishes to extend deep gratitude for the amazing care that Bev received at Our Lady of the Rosary Hospital these past several months. He would say, and he wouldn’t be wrong, the staff there are “top-shelf”.
