Condolences to all the southern Alberta Baird crew from the Slave Lake Baird crew. Losing loved ones too young is a common theme in our family. Sending strength to Bob and Maki. There was never a Ponoka Rodeo without my granny Vi stopping in to see Bob, Maki and TJ’s horses and trailer. From Grant and Violet Baird relatives, Slave Lake AB.

Some of my earliest childhood memories are of TJ staying in our bus when he would be fighting bulls at rodeos where my dad was clowning. Watching him and my dad put their make up on in the bus when it was cold and rainy and that smell of baby oil and grease paint. Even then I thought TJ walked on water. The photo I included was me and TJ Box Springs Rodeo 1997. Before the perf I asked him not to turn my steer because I was only riding so my dad would let me fight bulls when I grew up. Well he did turn it and I won the rodeo. TJ was my hero from day one and till this day. By the time I was fighting bulls getting to fight with him was a bigger deal to me than working the NFR. From attending his bullfighting schools to fighting bulls with him, those are still some of my life’s greatest highlights.
