Obituary of Donald William Hewlett

“Don”

1955 ~ 2024

Don Hewlett of Erskine, beloved father of Kim Hewlett, passed away suddenly at home on December 6, 2024, at the age of 69 years.

Don was born on November 28, 1955, in Edmonton, Alberta (along with his twin sister Donna) to Gladys and Wilf Hewlett.  The family moved to Stettler in 1965 where Don completed his schooling and went on to apprenticeship to become a refrigeration/air conditioning mechanic at SAIT in Calgary. He worked with his father Wilf at Stettler Refrigeration for a number of years.  Previous employment included Charles Meat Plant and Stettler Glass. Before retiring in 2019, Don worked for his brother Dean at Dean’s Machine Inc. in Stettler.  Don’s hobbies included cars, trucks, and anything mechanical. Don was very family oriented.

Don is survived by his daughter Kim Hewlett; ex-wife Joan Cole; sisters Donna LaPietra, Diane Hewlett (Al Goodwin) and Dell (Paul) Frederick; brothers David (Vivian) and Dean (Sophie); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Don was predeceased by his parents Gladys and Wilf Hewlett and brother-in-law Nick LaPietra.
