Obituary of Patricia Elaine Chater
In Loving Memory of Patricia “Pat” Elaine Chater
June 11, 1958 ~ December 20, 2024
Patricia Elaine Chater of Stettler, beloved wife of Robert Douglas Chater passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Hospital on December 20, 2024 at the age of 66 years.
Pat was born on June 11, 1958 in Masset, British Columbia to parents Klaus and Mary Grosse. She attended Tahasin School and graduated from Grade 12 in 1977. She became a teacher’s assistant with Nash Murellie for 11 years. Pat enjoyed cooking and baking cakes with her mother, as well as cross stitching, knitting, and collecting agates from the beach. Pat was passionate about donating to children’s charities and donated to Timmy’s Telethon.
Pat became a Christian in 1978 at the age of 20 years. At the age of 33 years, Pat married Robert Chater in 1992 in the Anglican Church in Masset, British Columbia. They then moved to Parksville/Qualicum on Vancouver Island. In April of 1996, she gave birth to their son, Timothy Robert Chater, at the Comox Hospital in British Columbia.
Pat leaves behind her loving husband Robert Chater; son Timothy Chater (Natalie); mother Mary Grosse; sisters Barbara (Rick) Dalton, Elizabeth (Blaine) Scott, Debbie Grosse (Mikey) and Kathy Grosse (Cory); brothers Stephen (Lareina) Grosse, Roy (Lynn) Grosse and Jamie (Diana) Grosse; sisters-in-law Nancy Chater (Irella) and Susan Chater (Paul); as well as many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Pat is predeceased by her father Klaus “Nicholas” Grosse and brother Christopher “Chris” Grosse.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Stettler Funeral Home, Stettler, Alberta with Pastor Allan Clark officiating and interment at Lake View Cemetery, Stettler, Alberta to follow. Donations in memory of Pat are gratefully accepted to the Clearview Elementary School – Breakfast Program or Winter Clothing Program.
