Merrill-Lee Ruth Peterson Obituary

Merrill-Lee Peterson was born on July 22, 1956 in Bentley, Alberta. She passed away peacefully on June 25, 2020 having lost her brief but valiant battle with cancer.

Merrill-Lee was predeceased by her parents Ernie and Emma Peterson in 1985. She leaves behind her beloved son Jonathan Peterson, her sister Sheryl-Lynn (Ron) Toothe of Calgary and her brother David (Nola) Peterson of Calgary and numerous nieces and nephews in Alberta and Idaho.

Merrill-lee was unique, one of a kind. She had a beaming smile, infectious laugh, and a bubbling personality which endeared her to her many friends. She was innovative and creative, always coming up with new ideas and creations. Merrill-Lee enjoyed designing and crafting. She owned her own flower shop and flower design school in Calgary and later on became a massage therapist. One of her greatest inventions was her patent massage chair.

Merrill-Lee had an adventurous, fun loving spirit and over the years she made her home in Calgary, Bentley, Sylvan Lake, and Osoyoos. In the final few years of her life she called Castor, Alberta her home. She was so happy in the home she created there and enjoyed all her treasures.

The highlight of Merrill-Lee’s life was the birth of her son Jonathan on August 11, 1989. Merrill-Lee was so proud of Jonathan. Jonathan was his Mother’s loving caregiver in the final weeks of her life providing excellent care and attention.

Merrill-Lee was taken too soon, however she wasn’t afraid of the end of this life. She faced it with courage and peace knowing that her Heavenly Father had prepared a new home for her. We know she is already making the best of her new adventure.

A memorial service to celebrate Merrill-Lee’s life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 4 PM at Sunnyside Christian Retreat Centre, 202 Birchcliff Road, Sylvan Lake
