I wish I could have been at the celebration of life for Jack. Unfortunately my own difficulties prevented that.
I have many fond memories of Jack from our school days together as we were in the same class all the way through. We rode the same school bus as well. He was always one of my favourite classmates, and we shared a love of sports, as well as a good joke, especially if it was at the expense of a teacher. Somewhat ironic since we both ended up teaching for a number of years.
We would have regular chats about our favourite sports teams ( Edmonton Oil Kings, Edmonton Eskimos, Edmonton Flyers) and I will never forget when he asked me to come with him to Stettler to watch the 1960 Grey Cup on TV at the home of one of his relatives. What a thrill for me, even though our Eskimos lost!
Jack was a very good athlete, and not just at baseball. I have many fond memories of playing basketball with him and also curling. He was always better than me but was always the ultimate teammate and I always loved having him “on my side”.
As adults we lost touch as we went our separate ways, but would occasionally reconnect at Kinsmen curling tournaments or homecomings and would always have a good catch-up.
He was one of the nicest most genuine guys I’ve ever known and will be deeply missed.

Reminiscences on Jackie Gould
I am extremely disappointed that none of the Irving Gould family will be able to attend in person Saturday. Although my contact with Jackie has been limited over the years of our adult lives I thought I would share some reminiscences of my childhood connection. I don't know how it would have felt to grow up in Consort, the way most of the cousins did. Probably seemed mundane, but to me coming to Consort each summer and for several Christmases, it was a mythical experience, joining an extended family the memory of which has of course only expanded to near epic proportions as I have grown older.
Jackie was a significant part of that myth. Older by only two years, at that age he towered above above me. His baseball exploits were legendary; at a time when I was a lowly little league catcher he was playing with the men. I was frightened to even have him pitch to me just for fun.
In winter, playing king of the castle on a pile of snow in the yard, he, Jim Hutchings and Gary Gilmer would hold off the combined and determined forces of Bill, Patrick, Stewart, Chuck, Charles and me. The game would go on until the intensity of the battle combined with sibling rivalry resulted in tears and an angry cessation of hostilities.
Jackie of course had his own version of the characteristic Ken Gould family laugh. Laughter is so important and seemed to come to him readily; one of the things indelibly imprinted in my memory.
We never really know what impact we have on people as we go thought life. This is especially true in our youth. I am sure Jackie was oblivious to the role model he was to those younger than himself.
I want to say how grateful I am to have known him, to have had him as part of this amazing extended family that embraced like a warm blanket all the way to Edmonton. I am sad he is gone and I am sure it is a profound loss to those that shared even more of his life. My condolences go out now to his own extended family in the hopes that they too are comforted by the embrace of this sustaining family presence.

I have such wonderful memories of our dear cousin Jack when I was growing up, as he spent a lot of time at our house visiting with brother Jim - and I was at the Gould home a lot, visiting Peggy. As adults it was always a pleasure to visit with Jack and “catch up”, when the opportunity arose at family gatherings and events back home. He will be missed.
Sending love and hugs to all Jack’s family - Dale, Denise, and Doug, and their families, and his siblings Bill, Stewart, Janice and Donald and their families. Our thoughts are with you all at this sad time.

My big cousin “Jackie” was someone I looked up to and reached out to over a lifetime. I will miss him dearly.
He and Marlene were my ‘safety net’ from the first day I climbed the steps of the yellow School Bus to start Grade One. I was shy and had many trepidations about leaving the safety of home, the Gould farm.
I have many fond memories of Jackie. I grew up with him in the same farmyard. He brought us bunnies or baby crows rescued from the fields during seeding. I am an avid baseball fan on account of him; cheering him on at the Sports Ground stands, alongside of his sister, Janice, and Auntie Joyce, his biggest fan of all! I was over the moon, when he married Marlene Richardson, the love of his life. I was proud when “Mr. Gould” walked into my classroom as one of the my teachers in Junior High.
As an adult, we kept in touch. I am sorry that he is gone. Rest In Peace my dear cousin. I will forever miss you.
Sending our love to Denise (Trevor), Dale (Barb), Doug (Eliana) and the Ken Gould family during this sad time of loss,
Susan Gould, Dennis Crocker, Pierrette O’Donnell & Kerry (Todd) Stewart & family
